Is There No Pleasing You?

As I lay half asleep awaiting the replay of Smackdown, I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be marvelous if Randy Orton retained the WWE Title at Wrestlemania 24. It’s the perfect plan, no one would be expecting that; and with all the criticism of this Wrestlemania being far too predictable, a bold move like this would surely surprise us all. On top of the surprise, having the young, brash champion topple the crafty veteran, and replace the unstoppable force would be a Wrestlemania moment that WM23 missed out on. Think about it, JR shouting with the excitement, “Randy Orton has done it! Against all odds, Randy Orton is Walking out of the main event of Wrestlemania 24 still the WWE Champion!” But then I thought, would the smart fans take a finish like this and enjoy it for the surprise and historical value, or would they turn it around and complain that they have to endure another month of headlocks and mediocre promos?
The chances of Orton winning seem very unlikely at best anyway, so what about Cena? Assuming it’s a good match with an exciting finish, would a Cena win be all that bad? Well, I think so, although I am picking a John Cena victory, but it wouldn’t be as bad as the last two Mania main event finishes. At least we had a nice little break of Cena as champion.
Finally, the odds on favorite to walk out of the Orlando with the WWE Chamionship, Triple H. Most of PWB as decided that Triple H is going to win and once again be the official RAW hole digger (because you bury people in holes). The accusation that Triple H doesn’t put people over is arguable, but the fact is, aside from a two hour reign that made No Mercy a good PPV, HHH has not held the WWE Title for 3 years. If he wins the title tomorrow it will be a fine finish that won`t spoil the rest of the show.
My question to the PWBites is this: Is there finish to the main event that you will enjoy? Or no matter what happens, will you complain about it?

Orton winning would be a surprise–and a good one, at that. I’d love to see him end up feuding with the MITB winner. Hell, I’d love to see the MITB winner cash and take the title at the end of the show…but will that happen…it’s unlikely.
My main complaint is a stagnant title scene. I’m just not interested in Triple H or Cena as champ. We’ve seen it. Let the young guys get their shot to main event some shows for a while. If the ratings tank, then they can go back to Cena or H.
I will say this for Triple H–at least if he wins, he’ll put out some intense title matches down the road. I can’t fault the man as a wrestler. I am predicting Triple H to win, and personally, I’ll take Triple H over Cena as champ, ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

thats the thing, we’re being offered nothing new with any of the title retainers… which contrasts with the undertaker. He keeps his moveset fresh (recently the triangular hold, has a veriety of finishers (last ride, tombstone piledriver, chokeslam) whereas cen will hit the same moves over and over again. IF MITB was cshed in, it would be incredible.
Here’s to:
Kane ECW champ
Kennedy MITB and cashing it in successfully
SIDE Point: will there be a draft after mania?
March 29th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
i would love to see that. was thinking about that earlier. same as flair
I sure hope so because it would be a big moment. you cant get DQ’d in triple threats so it will be a good match…I HOPE.

Acording to mayweathers manager the WWE are planning a massive swerve in the Mayweather match that will shock the world. hmmmmmmm
March 29th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
I don’t think it’s crazy to think Orton could win. Now that were less then 24hrs away I think the Triple Threat, MITB and the World Heavyweight title match could go anyway. I’m gonna stand by the picks I made on the podcast but I’m not as confident as I was a few days ago.

50 cent will help accompany him to the ring

40% of rain is projected.

I only want 2 things….surprises that weren’t announced or hinted at…..and good match for Flair. If I get that I’m happy.

JSN–
LOL. I know the ring will be protected from rain, but the fans certainly won’t!
March 29th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
I think it would be awesome to see a wrestling event in the rain but of course I didn’t speed 1000 bucks on ticket.
And did anyone else read that TNA is going to be flying a plane of the Citrus Bowl with a banner that reads “Watch TNA Impact”. I can’t decide if it’s a good idea or just pathetic.
March 29th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
just pathetic sideshow tna needs to feed off wwe fans in order to get the numbers even though i been enjoying impact the past few weeks they need to step out of wwe’s shadow and become a real company once they do that i think more fans will watch it hopefully they will let vince russo go sometime this yr and bring the x division to were its suppose to be
March 29th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
If there doing it just to irritate WWE management then it’s funny but if there doing thinking that there actually going to pick up the Impact rating then it’s pathetic.

Its pathetic either way. Why the fuck does TNA think its a good idea to keep on associating their company with the WWE. They have done so much shit parodying, copying, mentioning, alluding to, and running down WWE; I completely agree with Vince’s TNA banned for Wrestlemania weekend, why set themselves up if TNA is just going to us it to run them down. And they can’t seriously think a banner is going to do anything besides distract a few fans in attendance for 10 or 15 seconds. it’s really pathetic.
March 30th, 2008 at 12:15 am
PATHETIC. period
March 30th, 2008 at 6:03 am
as pathetic as the WWE advertising during TNA Impact? Yeah I thought so. It cuts both ways. You guys talk like the WWE invented wrestling and haven’t done this shit themselves numerous times.
Back in the attitude era the WWF starts used to talk about wcw ALL THE TIME. They even showed up at WCW events etc. Was that pathetic? How is this any different? Wrestling federations have always done this shit. Maybe you’re all just too young and have never known anything other than the WWE being the big dog. But believe me, the WWF did this and far worse in their history.

Running TV commercials during another companies wrestling event is allot different then renting out a plane and flying a banner that only the 70,000 people there who already know about TNA Impact will see. This is allot different the WCW vs WWE, WCW and WWE were equal in size and popularity so when they went at each other it was a far fight. TNA doesn’t even come close to the WWE when it comes to just size it’s David vs Goliath so when they do things like flying a banner or showing a WWE jobber at one of there shows it looks like they’re trying to show how there in the same league as the WWE when there not and shouldn’t want to be. TNA should be trying to sell people on how there different from the WWE that strategy seems to work well for RoH.
March 30th, 2008 at 7:54 am
I don’t think it’s pathetic. Lets see here…didn’t WWE (WWF at the time) send HHH and his crew to WCW for an invasion? Some thought that was pathetic. But it worked. I don’t blame Dixie Carter, she should use every avenue possible to help her show improve in the ratings. IT’s business, that’s all. Like it or not. a balloon over head is suttle. If you think about it..unless they will be blasting music no one will really pay that much attetion to it anyway. then again it could just be a rumor. But if they do a balloon or a banner so what it’s still Mania and no one is paying them any attention anyway.
March 30th, 2008 at 8:38 am
mabye if thoes 70,000 fans see that banner tnas raiting will go up to a 1.02 hahahahahaha lets see they wasted money on a plane where they could give that money to a wrestler mmmmmm DUMBASSES
March 30th, 2008 at 8:57 am
OK, granted, all the copycat shit is really annoying…Stone Cold Sharkboy and the rest of it. Also, showing that Highlander fool on Impact and making it out to be a big deal is DUMB. If it were, say, John Cena, Jericho, JBL or someone recognizable, it would be fine, but Rory or Roby? Give me a break, that does make you look pathetic. It makes you look pathetic too when you show MLB utility players or NASCAR Busch series drivers at your show that no one has heard of, as well…WWE is guilty of that sometimes…”look, it’s the placekicker for the Miami Dolphins at ringside! Athletes love us!” Both feds do that and it pisses me off.
BUT…I think it’s pretty hypocritical, as some have pointed out, for people to say TNA is pathetic for having their guys show up at WWE shows or flying a banner over Wrestlemania…I think that’s pretty damn funny, actually. As people above said, the WWE and WCW were doing the same type of stuff during the Monday Night Wars. Don’t be such WWE MARKS that you forget all the DX invasion stuff…while a lot of what TNA does rubs me the wrong way, it also annoys me to see people so blindly following one company.
March 30th, 2008 at 9:33 am
ahhhhh i love it when people have something to talk about leaves for a good blog
lex
r you still undecided on weather or not yr getting mania???
March 30th, 2008 at 10:13 am
The invasion worked because the WWE showed it on TV is TNA gonna be telling there fans on the next episode of Impact how they rented an air plane and made up a banner? I don’t think so, it is kind of funny but does anybody think this pisses off Vince as much as the tank that the WWE drove up to WCW Nitro pissed off Bishoff.
March 30th, 2008 at 10:53 am
Sideshow–
Vince gets pissed pretty easily…
Jmart–
Yesterday night, I was almost 50/50…today I’m 100% NOT getting it, lol…but I will definitely see what people are saying about the show while it’s happening…I’ll put up a show discussion shortly.
March 30th, 2008 at 11:36 am
Honestly HHH deserves to get the title and a little bit of a reign he hasn’t had one for a while now and for the most part gets the biggest pops and carrys the show and thats the truth no matter how anti-Hunter you are. Also it will make for a great end to the show as we will get Ric Flair out there with him most probably to close the show.
If Cena got the win I think every fan on the planet would be majorly pissed enough said.
Orton is an interseting one and honestly it’s not something I want to see if you where talking about Edge in his place then maybe but I just don’t see Orton as all that, certainly not good enough to get a rare heel title win at the companys biggest show. If Orton wins then I’d say its a given that the MITB will be cashed in there and then at WrestleMania
