As you all know by now, Lance Cade was released yesterday by the WWE. There’s been no real explanation for the release, so we’ve all be speculating on why it might have occurred.

Jim Ross blogged today about Lance Cade’s release, and it’s pretty shocking.

Here’s what he had to say:

The story that I have read on many internet sites about the reason for Cade’s sudden dismissal isn’t accurate. Many punhdits speculate that Cade was dismissed because of a bad performance in a recent TV bout against DX on Raw which is absolutely untrue. Lance’s dismissal had zero to do with his in ring performances or his lack of ability.

Lance Cade was dismissed from the WWE because, like many humans, he made a major league mistake while utilizing bad judgment that cost him his job. This included Lance having a seizure on an airplane and having to have emergency medial care. Luckily, Lilian Garcia was on the same flight and was instrumental in helping Lance get taken to a hospital where a battery of tests were run that luckily determined that there was nothing seriously wrong with the young man such as a brain tumor, etc.

Everyone makes mistakes, Lord knows I have made plenty in my career, but in this day and time some mistakes just simply can’t be condoned. To some fans, Lance Cade will likely still be perceived as the victim in this matter and his punishment too harsh.

Under the circumstances of the situation, I don’t know what other decision the WWE could have made. I’m just relieved that it wasn’t me in my former role that would have had to address this matter. I really like this kid and hope that he continues to follow his dreams. Second chances are not foreign in the wrestling business so perhaps that could be in Lance’s future but that’s just a personal observation.

Wow. I’m not sure what would have caused a seziure–it could have been any number of things. But as J.R. says, it was definately a major league mistake.

After reading this, I can’t see him showing up in TNA any time soon.

Someone has a seizure and loses his job. Of course he is gonna be perceived as the victim.

    He sucked anyway. Screw it.

I think what Ross is saying is that the sesure was caused by something Cade did, i.e. OD of sorts, at least that’s what I got out of it.

Wow. This just got even more interesting.

    wow

    I agree with Rob

Genetic factors: It is now accepted that some persons may have a genetic predisposition to the development of seizures. There is also an increased incidence of epilepsy in relatives of those with a seizure disorder.

Head injury: Seizures may develop at or around the time of injury or years after (usually not more than two years later). They may occur with either an “open” or “closed” head injury.

Stroke/cerebrovascular disorders: Seizures can occur at the time of a stroke or many years later. They may occur with strokes that result in lack of blood flow to the brain or with those that involve bleeding into or around the brain.

Metabolic disturbances: This group of disorders changes levels of various metabolic substances in the body. These disease states sometimes result in seizures.

    * Electrolyte disturbances (altered levels of sodium, calcium, or magnesium)
    * Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or hyperglycemia (elevated blood sugar)
    * Renal failure (kidney disease) with uremia (increased urea in the blood) or changes that occur around the time of kidney dialysis
    * Hepatic failure (severe liver disease) and elevation of associated toxins
    * Hypoxia (lowered oxygen delivery to the brain)

Toxic causes: The presence of certain drugs can cause seizure activity. In addition, abrupt withdrawal of some substances can lead to seizure activity. These substances that may induce seizures include the tricyclic antidepressants, lithium, antipsychotic medications, aminophylline, and high doses of penicillin.

Illicit drug use, particularly cocaine, heroine, amphetamines, and PCP, can cause seizures. Alcohol withdrawal can be associated with seizure activity. These seizures usually occur 12-24 hours after the last drink but can occur up until 48 hours or more after binge drinking.

Withdrawal from prescription drugs and agents such as barbiturates and narcotics can result in seizure activity.

  6. Jade Says:

If he was fired for it, it almost certainly had to do with some kind of illicit drug use, caught by a blood test at the hospital. Something like that wouldn’t pick up in their wellness tests because it’s passed out of the system so quickly (really, only marajuana stays around for more than a day or so– go figure, being the least harmful).

It’ll be interesting to hear more on this matter as time goes by.

  7. Lex Says:

Yes, connect the dots, people. It’s not like he got fired for having a medical condition.

  8. mollie d. Says:

Lex….a seizure is an indicator of a medical condition. It’s not funny, it’s not interesting, it’s dangerous. Basically your losing brain matter with every one you have. I’ve had 2 in my life and both were brought on my a high fever of 106 and meningitis. I should be dead, but I’m not thanks to a caring medical team that knew what they were doing. I did nothing to bring this on. I’m sick of reading about this like he could just say ok time for seizure and make himself have one. If he had one then I hope he recieves a full medical evalutaion. My ex boyfriend had them for years and now they are under control. Did he just make himself do them? No he has a sickness that causes it. Lets get facts straight people! If he was drinking or doing drugs and that caused it then he needs help anyway. But if he has some underlying condition like maybe concussion syndrome then that’s not a laughing matter. Lets see how you all feel if you ever have one. It’s not fun to loose that much control over yourself. Get real people.
