Bobby Lashley will make his long-awaited MMA debut on December 13, according to MMA Mania.

He’ll be fighting for the Mixed Fight Alliance promotion at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. No opponent has been announced, but I’d imagine it will be someone Lashley should handle pretty easily.

Lashley is signed to a contract with the American Fight League, but that promotion has put off it’s first show until early 2009.

The MFA show sounds like the type of the smaller MMA show that might end up on HD Net Fights, so if you’ve got that channel on your HD package, stay tuned.

Brock Lesnar really doesn’t want Steve Mazzagatti to ref his fight with Randy Couture. Apparently, Lesnar has requested that the athletic commission in Nevada remove him from consideration to officiate that bout.

According to ProWrestling.net’s Jason Powell, “Mazzagatti was the referee for Brock’s fight with Frank Mir, and Lesnar’s camp feels that he wrongfully stood up the fighters, which opened the door for Mir to apply the submission hold he won the fight with.”

Sure, that was a gargbage decision on Mazzagatti’s part, but Lesnar should have been able to defend himself better on the ground. Mir is one of the jujitsu practicioners in the world, and Lesnar just has to accept the fact that he got beat, regardless of Mazzagatti’s crappy decision early on in the fight.

Finally, I came across this video of Patrick Côté on YouTube. He really seems to think he F’ed Anderson Silva up at UFC 90:

Sure, Silva was a little off in that fight, but he clearly was the dominant fighter. In fact, it was almost like he was toying with Côté. If you haven’t seen it, the fight is on YouTube, but you might want to hurry before it gets taken down (Round 1, Round 2+3).

    All American

    jsn,

Yeah, working that type of show he probably won’t get a very good fighter for his first match. Brock faced a nobody in LA for his first match and won easily. The dude actually tapped to strikes.

I’d like to see Lashley do well in his fights and maybe get signed by the UFC. Can you imagine…Brock v. Lashley down the line.

Oh yeah most def, Lex. I saw Brock’s last fight on UFC. Opening bell, Brock rushed the guy with a punch. When the camera got a close up on the dude, his nose was a waterfall of blood.

As for Lashley…I dunno yet. I’ll wait and see what he does in the ring.

Yeah, I’m wondering what kind of standup Lashley will have. Lesnar’s is pretty phenomenal for a guy who was a wrestler.
