WWE.com Takes Shot at UFC PPVs

WWE.com posted a story chronicling Brock Lesnar’s title win last night in their “Inside WWE” news section. The story was very positive when it came to Lesnar, but it also took an obvious pot shot at UFC PPVs:

Critics have noted that many of the fights on the UFC pay-per-view ended in the first round, leaving UFC producers scrambling to fill the three-hour event with content. The dearth of hearty competition left many viewers to watch less prestigious under-card fights and only served to bolster claims that UFC pay-per-view events can often be a “crap shoot” in regards to filling the full three hours.

They make a good point, but things actually turned out pretty well last night–since some of the main card’s fights were so short, we got to see a lot of great action from the prelims, as well. In fact, the show was on the air for three airs and was pretty action-packed, in my opinion.

I think this is pretty ironic statement coming out of the same organization that put on ECW Decemenber to Dismember 2006–if I remember correctly, that show was like 2 1/2 hours max and ranks up there as one of the biggest rip-offs in PPV history.

In conclusion: Hey pot, you’re black.

    Worst PPV ever

not only did they false advertise(taking Sabu out of the match for no reason), but they only promotoed 2 matches. Hardy vs MNM and the Elimination Chamber.

    Surprise matches:

    -Daivari vs Dreamer
-Kelly Kelly/Knox(yes he has been with the company for 2 years now) vs Ariel/Throrn and NO CM Punk save when Kelly got attacked

    “Extreme” Chamber notes:

    -Hardcore Holly = Sabu’s replacement(lol)
-RVD, CM Punk, the 2 favorites, get eliminated 1st and 2nd. Test, Holly, Lashley battle and Lashley beats em both leaving himself 30 seconds left before Big Show, the last one to get into the match. TONS of “boring” and “bullshit!” chants. Lashley also got booed. I believe it had the worst buyrate ever, in terms of WWE records.

WWE should have the balls to have their article writters to be known publically. Who are writing these articles?

These are reasons that I wouldnt ever get a PPV show where the matches are real. I would be disappointed if a well hyped match went 14 seconds. Kimbo, I am looking at you. .
    Ugh

Yeah, I remember being REALLY mad after buying this, lol. I had hoped that despite the two promoted matches, Paul Heyman would come up with some good stuff, but as we know now, Vince nixed all of his ideas, including the way that the Elimination Chamber SHOULD have been booked. This really was probably the worst WWE PPV ever–of course there was that PPV from the mid-90s in Columbia, SC where the power went out, but at least that was a deal where it wasn’t WWE’s fault.

And great point on the writer of the article on WWE.com–why don’t they have an author listed if they are going to bash UFC?

ECW D to D Approx time 2 hours 12 minutes

    F- ugh

  4. sideshowraheem Says:

To be fair if they would have let Paul Heyman book that PPV the way he wanted to it would have been good. Somewhere he explained how he would have done it and it sounded pretty good.

  5. Kanadian Says:

    thats not irony

  6. Lex Says:

    Kanadian–

Yes it is. It’s ironic that the WWE would mock UFC for not filling three hours when they’ve done the same thing…

  7. Lex Says:

…and let’s not get into the modern debate on irony, lol. We can also just say hypocritical if that makes you feel better…

  8. Joe Morgan Says:

That statement from a show that is the filler King. WTFE

WWE needs to get a better product

  9. Kanadian Says:

hypocritical does make me feal better because its not ironic, JERK

  10. Kanadian Says:

  11. Kanadian Says:

i remeber buying this dvd 2years ago it was only 15 bucks i decied to buy it, to see how it bad was and It’s By far the worst wwe ppv of all time. Hands Down!

  16. Pole Foam Says:

Whats weird is that Sandman is on the poster for the show yet he is was not even on the card. That should of been a big hint that the show would be un terrible!!!!!!!!

  17. Lex Says:

    PF,

As terrible as this PPV was…this is actually my favorite WWE poster of all-time.

  18. Pole Foam Says:

    Lex,
Yeah the artwork makes the poster standout and the lettering/poster is very similar to ‘the nightmare before christmas’ poster?

But they should of at least put Sandman on the card or in the elimination chamber as he is on the poster.
