WWE and TNA Hirings and Firings: Estrada Gone; UK Wrestlers Signed

There’s been lots of roster movement today in both WWE and TNA, so I thought I’d condense it all into one post.
First, today’s firings: it looks like WWE has released Armando Estrada. He was a good manager, but never really found his niche as the GM of ECW or as a wrestler. I’m sure all you PWBites out there wish him the best in his future endeavors.
There was another interesting WWE roster note out today, courtesy of PW Insider. Apparently Ted DiBiase has been booked in the lead role for The Marine 2, so he won’t be on Raw anytime soon. The movie will be straight-to-DVD. Sweet.
Also, in another roster note, DJ Gabriel will be debuting on ECW tonight. He’s a UK-born wrestler who’s real name is Steve Lewington. According to Wikipedia, his signature moves include a snap swinging neckbreaker, a sitout hangman’s jawbreaker, a Tornado DDT and a reverse spinning heel kick. Sounds like he has some nice potential if those moves are in his moveset. We’ll see what WWE does with him.
Finally, TNA has signed a new wrestler. From TNAWrestling.com:
TNA recently signed UK “Gladiator” star Nick Aldis, who was in the United States two weeks ago to prepare for his upcoming debut in TNA. Aldis was known as “Oblivion” on the UK version of Gladiator. TNAwrestling.com will be providing more info on Aldis on the coming days! Aldis joins Doug Williams as the newest TNA UK roster members.
Hey, wait a minute. I didn’t realize TNA signed Doug Williams!

Unfortunately it seems the WWE has no time to cultivate proper managers and valets anymore. That’s definitely one aspect of the business I miss.
