WWE Monday Night Raw Discussion: 800

Written by Lex on Monday, November 3rd, 2008 in Live Discussion, Raw, WWE.

Editor’s Note: Don’t forget to vote on the podcast poll below! This week’s question: should Sting sign a short-term contract with the WWE in 2010?

Remember, tonight’s Raw is the 800th edition of the show, and thus, a special three-hour episode, starting at 8e/7c.

Here’s what’s on the docket tonight match-wise:

  • Cage Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Chris Jericho v. Batista(c)
  • D-Generation X v. The Miz and John Morrison
  • 16 Diva Tag Team Match

You know, if WWE wanted to make this show really “special,” they might try to come up with a full-card ahead of time and give it that “Clash of the Champions” feel. I guess that’s just wishful thinking on my part.

WWE Cyber Sunday Discussion: Undertaker v. Big Show

Written by Lex on Sunday, October 26th, 2008 in ECW, Live Discussion, PPV, Raw, Smackdown, WWE.

Tonight is the night that WWE let’s YOU, the FANS decide the matches! Yippee! I bet everyone is pissing their pants with excitement over Cyber Sunday.

Well, not really. I see two matches on the following card I’d like to watch:

  • WWE Championship: Triple H(c) v. Vladamir Kozlov; OR Jeff Hardy; OR Vladamir Kozlov and Jeff Hardy
  • Undertaker v. Big Show: Last Man Standing match; OR I Quit match; OR Knockout match
  • World Heavyweight Championship: Batista v. Chris Jericho(c) with special guest ref Randy Orton; OR Shawn Michaels; OR Stone Cold Steve Austin
  • Kane v. Rey Mysterio: Falls Count Anywhere Match; OR No Holds Barred Match; OR Best 2-of-3 Falls Match
  • ECW Championship Match: Matt Hardy(c) v. Finlay; OR Mark Henry; OR Evan Bourne
  • Intercontinental Championship Match: Santino Marella(c) v. Honky Tonk Man; OR Rowdy Roddy Piper; OR Goldust
  • Pick the Tag Team Match: World Tag Team Championship: Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase v. CM Punk and Kofi Kingston; OR John Morrison and The Miz v. Cryme Tyme; OR William Regal and Layla v. Jamie Noble and Mickie James
  • Divas Halloween Costume Contest

So yeah, that’s the card. WWE will also stream a match before the show on their web site where you can pick Shelton Benjamin’s opponent: MVP, R Truth or Festus.

Of course, the two matches I’d be interested in are Undertaker v. Big Show and, surprisingly, Kane v. Rey Mysterio. I’d like to see an I Quit match between Taker and Show; I’m not really sure what the difference is between a Last Man Standing match or a Knockout match. I’d like to see Kane and Rey Mysterio simply because I’m hoping for falls count anywhere–Rey Rey is pretty entertaining in those types of matches.

Here’s the requisite “Will you watch the show” poll:

Will you watch WWE Cyber Sunday?

Discuss Cyber Sunday here.

Tonight’s Raw marks WWE’s last chance to hit the “reset” button before the annual crapfest known as Cyber Sunday. Raw has been unwatchable for weeks, so let’s hope they give forth a good effort tonight.

I can’t seem to find any actual matches announced for Raw tonight, so who knows what they’ll come up with. Feel free to try and predict the main event for tonight’ show. I’ll guess Chris Jericho and Kane v. Rey Mysterio and Batista.

In other Raw news, the November 3 edition of Raw has been confirmed by WWE to be a three-hour show. The way the booking has been going, they might want to make the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay watch that edition of Raw–they’d be talking after thirty minutes. I guarantee you it would be way more effective torture than lame waterboarding.

In a press release to the Tampa media, WWE promoted the following matches for that night’s Raw:

The two big main event matches will be WWE World Heavyweight Championship Cage Match fights featuring Chris Jericho vs. Batista and DX vs. The Miz and John Morrison!

Normally I wouldn’t mind the cage match, but didn’t we just see Chris Jericho wrestle for the title in a cage against C.M. Punk? It seems like the bookers in the WWE have become fixated on cage matches and triple-threat matches. How about something new? And by new I definately don’t mean another freaking DX reuinion. One night only folks, we swear! UGH.

Batista Frustrated With Push?

Written by Lex on Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 in News, Raw, WWE.

From ProWrestling.net’s Jason Powell:

Batista was talking about taking some time off recently, in part because he was frustrated with the push he was getting. He seems to believe that he’s a notch below the top tier performers and he believes he should be pushed like a true main eventer. There is some suspicion that Batista’s win over John Cena at SummerSlam was an attempt to placate him.

Wow. How could Batista possibly be frustrated with his push? Does this guy think he needs to have a world title around his waist at all times? Give me a break.

Powell also reported that his “frustration” may just be posturing for a new, more-lucrative contract. After all, if he wants to add to that car collection (and lunchbox collection) we saw on MTV Cribs, he’s got to keep the cash flow right.

Editor’s Note: You know the drill. No posting over this until tomorrow. ALSO, before you read this post, check THIS out:

It’s time for the WWE’s second-biggest pay-per-view of the year, Summerslam. In celebration of the big event, I’ll provide live (Dos Equis-fueled) coverage tonight in the comments section of the post. Here’s the card:

  • Hell in a Cell:The Undertaker d. Edge with the Tombstone in an epic match.
  • Batista d. John Cena with the Batista Bomb in a great match.
  • WWE Championship: Triple H (retains) d. The Great Khali with a pedigree.
  • World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk (retains) d. JBL with GTS
  • ECW Championship: Matt Hardy d. Mark Henry (retains title) via DQ. Hardy hit the twist of fate in the first 30 seconds of the match, but Atlas broke it up, causing the DQ. Atlas attacked Matt Hardy, but Jeff Hardy came out for the save and helped Matt suplex Henry on the floor.
  • HBK’s retirement announcement is interrupted by Chris Jericho, who accidentally punches HBK’s wife in the face as they are leaving. HBK’s wife had a swollen lip after the punch, which looked pretty darn real.
  • Winner Take All Tag Team Match: Santino Marella (New Intercontinental Champion) and Beth Pheonix (New Women’s Champion) d. Kofi Kingston and Mickie James
  • MVP d. Jeff Hardy with the Drive By Kick

Feel free to leave your predictions for Summerslam here.

In addition, here’s some questions for discussion:

  • Will John Cena and Batista have a good match?
  • Will Edge do something spectacular in Hell in a Cell?
  • Which non-Hell in a Cell match steals the show?
  • Will this PPV suck or rule?

Enjoy, and be here at 8e/7c for my live coverage.

Batista Run-In (from last night’s Raw)

Looks like I win my own cookie. Seriously, this is the funniest moment I’ve seen on Raw in recent memory.

Make sure you watch this quickly, because I’m sure it’ll be pulled by WWE in no time (even if it is a crappy video of a tv screen).

WWE Night Of Champions Discussion: Y2J vs ???

Written by sideshowraheem on Sunday, June 29th, 2008 in Uncategorized.

Lex is dead……or on vacation or something so I’ll be taking over the “Official Discussion Posts” for the next two days. Tonight we have probably the most unpredictable PPV of the year WWE Vengeance: Night of Champions, every WWE title is on the line and a new WWE Diva’s Champion will be crowned.

Maybe the most interesting thing about this card is how much we don’t know. We don’t know who Chris Jericho will be wrestling for his Intercontinental Championship, we don’t know who Ted DiBiase Jr.’s tag team partners gonna be for his match against Cody Rhodes & Bob Holly and we don’t know who Natalya Neidhart will be facing for the new Diva’s title. What we do know is the probability of the WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship changing hands is as close to 100 percent as you can get. Batista and Cena haters beware my only prediction for this PPV is one of those two will be carrying gold by the end of the night. Here’s the complete card for tonight or at least what we know so far:

  • WWE Championship: Triple H (c) vs. John Cena
  • World Heavyweight Championship: Edge (c) vs. Batista
  • ECW Championship: Kane (c) vs. Big Show vs. Mark Henry
  • World Tag Team Championship: Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Ted DiBiase and ???
  • WWE Diva’s Championship: Natalya vs. ???
  • WWE Tag Team Championship: John Morrison and The Miz (c) vs. Finlay and Hornswoggle
  • WWE United States Championship: Matt Hardy (c) vs. Chavo Guerrero
  • WWE Women’s Championship: Mickie James (c) vs. Katie Lea Burchill
  • WWE Intercontinental Championship: Chris Jericho (c) vs. ???

Despite my comments on the last podcast I’ve decided to order this PPV. Why? Because when are we gonna have another WWE PPV were anybody could win and I’m a sucker, this is the same guy who’s gonna be in line on July 11th to drop 200 bucks on second iPhone because it has features that really should have included with the first one. What can I say Vince McMahon and Steve Jobs have hold of me there’s just no resisting.

BTW I don’t know why The Undertaker is on the official poster………and remember no posting over this until tomorrow…………
