The date for this interview was pushed back or moved up at least 4 different times so I wouldn’t be surprised if you missed it. But it did finally happened, last night Larry King interviewed Vince McMahon, Triple H, Chris Jericho, John Cena, Big Show and Floyd Mayweather Jr. to help promote Wrestlemania 24.

CNN’ Refuses To Apologise

Written by sideshowraheem on Wednesday, November 14th, 2007 in Uncategorized.

Since the WWE exposed CNN “creative editing” on their web site they have been asking CNN to issue a formal apology to Cena for misquoting him. Well, in an unbelievably bad PR move CNN is sticking to there guns, there Director of Public Relations Jennifer Dargan released this statement last night.

CNN felt that Mr. Cena’s statement in the interview:”My answer to that question ‘have you ever used steroids’ is — the only thing I can say — I can’t tell you that I haven’t, but you’ll never be able to prove that I have” was a more expansive and complete answer — and that’s why we used it in the first run of the program. And we stand by that decision. But, we added the other quote on the Sunday replay where Mr. Cena first denied using steroids. We did this because of his complaint and the attention it received so that viewers could see how he said it both times.

OK, so you stand by your original editing job but yet you changed it after you where exposed, how does that make since? And if even if you used that statement because you wanted an “expansive and complete answer” why did you edit out what he said after that witch would have further explained his point and not make is seem like he was dodging the question. I would think that a well respected “news” organization like CNN would at least man up and say we made a mistake but I guess that’s to much to ask in to days controversy fueled media.

Major News Piece on WWE Airs on CNN Tonight

Written by Lex on Wednesday, November 7th, 2007 in Uncategorized.

CNN reporter Drew Griffin was nice enough to send this along today:

It’s been an open secret that anabolic steroids and painkillers are a part of professional wrestling, but the murder-suicide of WWE wrestler Chris Benoit’s family focused a new spotlight on the consequences of the excesses. In an in-depth look into the world of the WWE, CNN investigative correspondent Drew Griffin reveals that over the last decade, wrestlers have died from heart attacks, drug overdoses, suicides and cerebral hemorrhages – at rates much higher than for the general population. Including an interview with Vince McMahon, the chairman of the WWE, Griffin reports on what the life of professional wrestlers is like inside and outside of the ring – and how some wrestlers gamble with their health to win a chance at stardom in the profession.

The show will premiere, Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 8 and 11 pm and will re-air on Saturday, Nov. 10 and Sunday, Nov. 11 at 8 and 11 pm (ET).

Another big media story on the WWE. I’ll be sure to DVR this tonight and give you guys my thoughts on it later–we’ll see if this piece is a bit more balanced than some of the previous things we’ve seen on channels like HBO and Fox News.
