TNA Impact! Discussion: Nash and Angle v. Abyss and Morgan

Written by Lex on Thursday, November 20th, 2008 in Live Discussion, TNA.

Here’s tonight’s Impact! preview courtesy of TNAWrestling.com:

- What will happen in the ongoing war between The Main Event Mafia and the young lions of TNA?

- This past week, The Main Event Mafia brutally attacked Christian Cage and sent a message to the rest of the TNA roster. How will Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and the rest of the TNA Originals react? Tune in and find out!

- TNAwrestling.com has also learned that the Main Event Mafia will speak out about what they did to Christian Cage this past week!

- Plus, there will be more news and matches announced for the December 7 “Final Resolution” Pay-Per-View epic event! We’ve learned that Executive Shareholder Mick Foley will announce the main event for the Pay-Per-View!

Matches schedule for this Thursday night are as follows:

- In the featured bout, it will be Kurt Angle and Kevin Nash of the Main Event Mafia taking on Abyss and “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan

- Christy Hemme and newcomer Sojourner Bolt will battle Velvet Sky and Angelina Love, aka The Beautiful People

- Plus, in an X Division tag team bout it will be Consequences Creed and “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal taking on “The Guru” Sonjay Dutt and Japanese superstar Tanahashi

All this and much more TONIGHT at 9pm on SpikeTV!

I have not read the spoilers for this show, but based on the card I see here, it looks like it might be a bit of a down episode. There’s not really a marquee singles match-up tonight. I will be interested to see what kind of main event they come up with for Final Resolution.

TNA Impact! Discussion: Big Things Poppin’…

Written by Lex on Thursday, November 13th, 2008 in Live Discussion, TNA.

Tonight’s Impact! is going to feature a huge storyline development, so be sure to watch. Here’s the preview from TNAWrestling.com:

PREVIEW FOR THURSDAY’S HUGE “iMPACT!” BROADCAST ON SPIKE: THE AFTERMATH OF TURNING POINT

This Thursday night, TNA Wrestling returns to Spike for two hours of Total Nonstop Action featuring the aftermath of the Turning Point Pay-Per-View event!

The below is an early preview of the huge broadcast. The card is subject to change:

- The big story going into Thursday’s “iMPACT!” is how the TNA originals like Samoa Joe and AJ Styles will react to the Main Event Mafia’s total domination at Turning Point. The M.E.M. won all of their bouts, leaving the young lions of TNA at a huge disadvantage going into Thursday’s broadcast. Is the war already over? How will the TNA originals react?

- Immediately following Sunday’s Pay-Per-View, Executive Shareholder Mick Foley told TNAwrestling.com that he had met with TNA Founder Jeff Jarrett - and the two agreed that there will be THREE huge title matches on Thursday’s broadcast starting at 9ET on SpikeTV! Who will get the shots - and who will defend their gold? Will The Main Event Mafia be forced to put their championships on the line? Tune in and find out!

- Speaking of the Main Event Mafia, they will add yet another member to the group this Thursday as - stipulated by his loss to Booker T at the PPV - “The Instant Classic” Christian Cage must join them! What will happen on Thursday when Cage is forced to side with Sting, Nash, Angle, Booker and Steiner? Will all hell break loose - or will Cage accept his new role in TNA?

- Plus, the broadcast will feature The Main Event Mafia’s “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner vs. “The War Machine” Rhino! Two of the biggest bad-asses in TNA Wrestling collide this Thursday night! Will Rhino be pulled into the war between the Main Event Mafia and the TNA Originals?

All this and much more this Thursday on “iMPACT!” on SpikeTV, including news on TNA’s “Final Resolution” Pay-Per-View on Sunday, December 7

I’m just hoping for another sweet Scott Steiner promo!

TNA Impact! Discussion: Cage’s Decision

Written by Lex on Thursday, October 30th, 2008 in Live Discussion, TNA.

For the second week in a row, I’m actually going to watch Impact!. Here’s what TNA has in store for us tonight, courtesy of TNAWrestling.com:

- After what went down on the live broadcast involving the formation of the Main Event Mafia alliance of Sting, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle and Booker T, the wrestling world wants to know how the young lions like Samoa Joe and AJ Styles will react. According to sources, Joe and AJ have already begun recruiting other superstars to join their side - and they plan to speak out this Thursday night on SpikeTV! Will all hell break loose as the war between the Main Event Mafia and the new generation continues to intensify? Tune in and find out!

- BUT, the big question is what will unfold on the broadcast as NEW TNA Executive Shareholder Mick Foley assumes power on “iMPACT!”. Will Foley have something to say about the Main Event Mafia vs. the new generation? How will he change the landscape of TNA in his new role as shareholder with the company? Plus, we understand TNA founder Jeff Jarrett will be on the broadcast along with Foley to address the announcement!

- In Knockouts tag team action, it will be The Beautiful People facing the team of Christy Hemme and ODB

- The Motor City Machineguns will be in tag team action

- According to sources, “The Instant Classic” Christian Cage will make his decision whether he will fight Booker T at Turning Point on November 9! If Cage wins, he would get the Legends Championship. If he loses, he would be forced to join The Main Event Mafia!

Let’s see if Hell has actually frozen over and if I really enjoy Impact! two weeks in a row.

TNA Bound For Glory Discussion: Sting v. Samoa Joe

Written by Lex on Sunday, October 12th, 2008 in Live Discussion, PPV, TNA.

Three weeks ago, if you’d have asked me whether or not I was ordering Bound For Glory, I’d have a quick response for you: yes, I am–I dig the “Respect” storyline and Bound For Glory is always TNA’s best PPV of the year.

Unfortunately, the “respect” storyline has fallen a bit by the wayside, outside of the rushed AJ Styles/Booker T/Christian Cage build-up. What was a guaranteed order for me has become a “not likely.” I’m wondering if a lot of people out there feel the same way?

I’ve had some last-second thoughts about ordering, but I’m not sure I can justify spending $34.95 on this show. If TNA wants this to be the “biggest show of the year,” I think they need to do a lot more to build the entire card, not half-ass a bunch of  matches on the episode before the show.

For example, I’ve been watching Impact! every week, but it’s hard for me to tell you who is in the “Steel Asylum” match or why they are even having it. Also, why is the X Division title build so last-minute? They didn’t even decide who would be challenging for it until Thursday’s Impact!, and because it was so late in the game, they HAD to go with the easy way out–a patriotic character challenging a Muslim.

I will say this–even if you’re in agreement with me that the build has been sub-par, the one thing you can count on with this show is the wrestlers working their asses off. That’s what keeps TNA going, because it’s definitely not the booking. If I do order this show, it’s because of the wrestlers like AJ, Joe, Kurt and the X-Division guys that work so hard.

Regardless, here’s tonight’s card, courtesy TNAWrestling.com:

TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Champion Samoa Joe vs. “The Icon” Sting

TNA GRUDGE MATCH
“King Of The Mountain” Jeff Jarrett vs. Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle
Special Enforcer: Mick Foley

THREE WAY MATCH

MONSTER’S BALL WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:

Special Referee: Steve “Mongo” McMichael

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Champion Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Consequences Creed

TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Champion Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong vs. Roxxi

THE RETURN OF THE STEEL ASYLUM MATCH
The X Division superstars battle inside the steel dome to try to escape

According to the TNA Impact! preview for next week on TNA’s web site, Jeff Jarrett is going to discuss Kurt Angle’s recent comments to the Sun newspaper in the UK:

According to multiple sources, Jeff Jarrett is angry over the recent comments made by Kurt Angle about TNA in the UK Sun Newspaper! Rumor has it that Jarrett - as the founder of TNA - will publicly address these controversial comments on Thursday’s broadcast on Spike. The question is, with Angle and Jarrett set to battle at Bound For Glory, could all hell break loose between the two TNA superstars on Thursday night?

If you didn’t see Kurt’s comments, here are a few of the quotes from the Sun interview:

“TNA do it because we want to be different from WWE and innovative. But what happens is sometimes we are, but then sometimes we are too old school. Let’s face it, a tar and feather match today wouldn’t go over too well. But we’ve actually done that. That’s a 1960’s match, this is 2008. We’re in an MMA world. Fans want to see mano a mano. One on one. Let’s go at it. We call ourselves Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. We say: “TNA” we are wrestling.” No we’re not. We’re f***ing gimmick matches.”

“At the last PPV, No Surrender, we had a triple threat main event between me, Christian Cage and Samoa Joe. We had a great match, but Samoa Joe won because Jeff Jarrett came in and hit me with a guitar. I would have won if Jeff didn’t do that. I believe that Joe should have kicked my ass and Christian’s ass and won straight up and then afterwards Jeff could have come in or even waited until the next night on TV and attacked me. I’m trying to make our younger guys more popular. I let AJ beat me the last four times we wrestled for a reason. To make him a bigger star. I wanted Joe to beat me and Christian at the PPV to make him a bigger star. But what’s been happening is we have run-ins to create the wins, so I get protected. I don’t want to be protected and I don’t need to be protected. I’m having a real struggle with it. We need to back up and realize who we are and what we’re trying to get across. We have the best wrestlers in the world, WWE can’t compare. But how do we use them to our advantage? By simply wrestling, because that’s what they’re good at.”

Kurt Angle Speaks Out On TNA

Written by scotlandsmvp on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008 in News, TNA, Wrestling Industry.

In an interview with the UK Sun, former TNA World Champion Kurt Angle took TNA to task on a number of different issues within the company. Below are some of the highlights:

TNA Gimmicks and Match Stipulations:

“Being in TNA is exciting and frustrating at the same time. We’ve been doing a good job but what we need to do right now is to simplify things. We get a little bit too complicated with our gimmick matches and run-ins. I’ve spoken to the bookers, writers and owners of TNA and said: “Listen. Wrestling is very simple, keep it simple.”

Why TNA Overindulges in Gimmicks:

“TNA do it because we want to be different from WWE and innovative. But what happens is sometimes we are, but then sometimes we are too old school. Let’s face it, a tar and feather match today wouldn’t go over too well. But we’ve actually done that. That’s a 1960’s match, this is 2008. We’re in an MMA world. Fans want to see mano a mano. One on one. Let’s go at it. We call ourselves Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. We say: “TNA” we are wrestling.” No we’re not. We’re f***ing gimmick matches.”

TNA Protecting Talent:

King of the Mountain:

“You have to put the belt on the hook, but before you do that you have to pin somebody. If you get pinned then you end up in the penalty box. When you get out the penalty box you’re still eligible to win as long as you pin somebody and then put that belt up on the hook. It’s like holy s***, it’s too f***ing confusing.”
