TNA Impact! Discussion: Nash and Angle v. Abyss and Morgan

Written by Lex on Thursday, November 20th, 2008 in Live Discussion, TNA.

Here’s tonight’s Impact! preview courtesy of TNAWrestling.com:

- What will happen in the ongoing war between The Main Event Mafia and the young lions of TNA?

- This past week, The Main Event Mafia brutally attacked Christian Cage and sent a message to the rest of the TNA roster. How will Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and the rest of the TNA Originals react? Tune in and find out!

- TNAwrestling.com has also learned that the Main Event Mafia will speak out about what they did to Christian Cage this past week!

- Plus, there will be more news and matches announced for the December 7 “Final Resolution” Pay-Per-View epic event! We’ve learned that Executive Shareholder Mick Foley will announce the main event for the Pay-Per-View!

Matches schedule for this Thursday night are as follows:

- In the featured bout, it will be Kurt Angle and Kevin Nash of the Main Event Mafia taking on Abyss and “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan

- Christy Hemme and newcomer Sojourner Bolt will battle Velvet Sky and Angelina Love, aka The Beautiful People

- Plus, in an X Division tag team bout it will be Consequences Creed and “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal taking on “The Guru” Sonjay Dutt and Japanese superstar Tanahashi

All this and much more TONIGHT at 9pm on SpikeTV!

I have not read the spoilers for this show, but based on the card I see here, it looks like it might be a bit of a down episode. There’s not really a marquee singles match-up tonight. I will be interested to see what kind of main event they come up with for Final Resolution.

TNA Impact! Discussion: Four-Way Tag Ladder Match

Written by Lex on Thursday, November 6th, 2008 in Live Discussion, TNA.

Here’s what TNA has planned for Impact! tonight, courtesy of TNAWrestling.com:

- “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner is back in TNA, and this Thursday night The Main Event Mafia plan to officially induct him into their group! With the Mafia growing bigger (and badder!), how will the young lions like Samoa Joe and AJ Styles react? Tune in and find out!

- TNAwrestling.com has learned that Executive Shareholder Mick Foley has requested time to speak with “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles! After his face to face with Sting this past week, what does Foley want to address with The Phenomenal One?

- A Ladder Match is also scheduled for the broadcast, with the winners earning a shot at the TNA World Tag Team Championship: Team 3D vs. The Latin American Xchange vs. Abyss & Matt Morgan vs. Tanahashi & Volador

- Also, a Knockouts Tag Team bout is set to take place with TNA Women’s Champion Awesome Kong & Raisha Saeed vs. Taylor Wilde and Roxxi

- Plus, in a Six Man War main event it will be TNA World Heavyweight Champion Sting, Kurt Angle and Kevin Nash taking on “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal, Eric Young and Consequences Creed!

All this and much more this Thursday night on Spike at 9pm ET - plus more news on the November 9 “Turning Point” Pay-Per-View epic event!

I actually avoided the spoilers for once, so I’m kind of anxious to see if I’ll be pleasantly surprised by the show. I won’t get my hopes up, but the four-way tag team ladder match definitely has potential.

Foley’s wife was overreacting for the camera

She knows that it isnt real and she doesnt like watching it so why the hell would she buy front row tickets and watch it with her kids? I know why, for the cameras

She was scaring her children

The hell in a cell match was after this so she had seen worse

If they had reality shows like this, I would have watched every second!

TNA: Impact! Ratings Up Thanks to Foley; Mongo Madness

Written by Lex on Saturday, November 1st, 2008 in News, TNA.

TNA is celebrating some good news this week: the Impact! rating rose from a 1.1 to a 1.2 this week (technically, 1.16), according to PW Torch’s Wade Keller.

Sure, 0.1 isnt’ that big of a deal to some shows, but it’s a step in the right direction for TNA. On the flipside, this has happened before, and the rating fell right back down to the 1.1 range the next week. If TNA gets a 1.2 or 1.3 next week, then they should really start to get excited.

Apparently, the highest rated segment was Mick Foley’s confrontation with Sting, which drew a 1.22 rating. Foley also drew well with his “big” announcement last week from Las Vegas–a 1.31. TNA might want to consider having him on the show a little more, because he does seem to draw in higher audience.

* * *

In other TNA news, it appears all involved in the Monster’s Ball match were pissed off at Steve “Mongo” McMichael, according to Pro Wrestling.com. He was out of position as a ref the entire match, and he was counting too slowly.

On the brightside, he did help open that pesky bag of tacks!

VOTD: My Favorite match that doesnt involve HBK

WOW! The entire match was great!

Tonight’s episode of TNA Impact! is live from Las Vegas, and unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Mick Foley is going to make an announcement that will “change the face of wrestling forever.” Seriously, the publicity for this is everywhere. If you didn’t know about the announcement from the Google AdSense ads on this blog, you’ve probably heard about it on a radio ad or seen it on a billboard somewhere. This announcement better be good!

In addition to Foley’s announcement, Booker T will reveal what’s in his briefcase. Several matches have also been announced for the show:

  • Main Event: Sting and Kevin Nash v. Samoa Joe and AJ Styles
  • X Division Championship: Jay Lethal v. Sheik Abdul Bashir(c)
  • Knockouts Women’s Championship: Awesome Kong v. Taylor Wilde(c)
  • Christy Hemme v. One of the Beautiful People

There’s one more match so confusing I can’t even manage to figure out how to put it on that list. Therefore, I’ll just use TNA’s description from their Impact! preview:

It will be TNA World Tag Team Champions Beer Money vs. Team 3D vs. Matt Morgan & Abyss vs. LAX in a “Hard Rock Hardcore Tag Team Text-off Gauntlet”

Fans decide the order that the eight TNA wrestlers will enter the ring for the “Hard Rock Hardcore Text Off Gauntlet”. From now until Thursday October 23rd at 9pmET fans can pick the order of the wrestlers that will under the Gauntlet. The order will be determined with the wrestler with the fewest votes entering first, with the wrestler with the most text votes being the last to enter the ring. Fans can cast their vote by texting the keyword (listed below for each wrestler) to the number 81676. Vote now and vote often. Standard Text Messaging rates apply.

TNA Bound For Glory Discussion: Sting v. Samoa Joe

Written by Lex on Sunday, October 12th, 2008 in Live Discussion, PPV, TNA.

Three weeks ago, if you’d have asked me whether or not I was ordering Bound For Glory, I’d have a quick response for you: yes, I am–I dig the “Respect” storyline and Bound For Glory is always TNA’s best PPV of the year.

Unfortunately, the “respect” storyline has fallen a bit by the wayside, outside of the rushed AJ Styles/Booker T/Christian Cage build-up. What was a guaranteed order for me has become a “not likely.” I’m wondering if a lot of people out there feel the same way?

I’ve had some last-second thoughts about ordering, but I’m not sure I can justify spending $34.95 on this show. If TNA wants this to be the “biggest show of the year,” I think they need to do a lot more to build the entire card, not half-ass a bunch of  matches on the episode before the show.

For example, I’ve been watching Impact! every week, but it’s hard for me to tell you who is in the “Steel Asylum” match or why they are even having it. Also, why is the X Division title build so last-minute? They didn’t even decide who would be challenging for it until Thursday’s Impact!, and because it was so late in the game, they HAD to go with the easy way out–a patriotic character challenging a Muslim.

I will say this–even if you’re in agreement with me that the build has been sub-par, the one thing you can count on with this show is the wrestlers working their asses off. That’s what keeps TNA going, because it’s definitely not the booking. If I do order this show, it’s because of the wrestlers like AJ, Joe, Kurt and the X-Division guys that work so hard.

Regardless, here’s tonight’s card, courtesy TNAWrestling.com:

TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Champion Samoa Joe vs. “The Icon” Sting

TNA GRUDGE MATCH
“King Of The Mountain” Jeff Jarrett vs. Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle

MONSTER’S BALL WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:

Special Referee: Steve “Mongo” McMichael

TNA X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Champion Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Consequences Creed

TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Champion Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong vs. Roxxi

THE RETURN OF THE STEEL ASYLUM MATCH
