WWE Monday Night Raw Discussion: King of the Ring Tourney

Written by Lex on Monday, April 21st, 2008 in Uncategorized.

We’ve been talking about it all week, and the King of the Ring Tournament is finally here. Don’t forget that tonight’s Raw starts at 8 EASTERN, 7 CENTRAL, or you’ll be left out in the cold for the first part of the tournament. That would be lame on your part.

No word yet from WWE on who will actually be in the tournament, but the main event of Raw will be an eight-man tag team match: Undertaker, Kane, John Cena and Triple H v. Randy Orton, Edge, JBL and Chavo Guerrero. That has all the makings of a great main event–I love the big tag matches.

Also, as Sideshow has already reported, all three remaining presidential candidates will have video-taped appearances on Raw. So basically, if you’re so dumb that you base who you’re voting for on which candidate knows the most about wrestling, you can make your choice tonight. As much as I like wrestling, what these three say won’t have a bearing on my political choices.

Tonight’s Raw emanates from Albany, New York.

Pop quiz: what famous Raw incident occured in Albany?

Answer: Stone Cold’s famous beer truck soaking. At least, I think, if memory serves me correctly.

Anyways, back to tonight’s Raw. According to WWE.com, we’ll find out the identity of the Randy Orton’s new challenger for the gold at Backlash. WWE is teasing that it is either JBL or Matt Hardy, which probably means we’ll get Triple H. No seriously, it might mean that we get another triple-threat match. God, I hope not.

WWE will be served well if it’s either JBL or Hardy, since it’s a change in direction that the product badly needs. Anybody want to guess as to who gets the title shot?

Also, tonight on Raw, we’ll get HBK on Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel. That should be fun.

WWE Monday Night Raw Discussion: Floyd Mayweather in the House

Written by Lex on Monday, February 18th, 2008 in Uncategorized.

First off, check out the Wrestlemania 24 predictions post I started today. This discussion is always the best of the year. Last year, I think it had nearly 1,000 comments. As an added bonus, it eventually always attracts lots of marks via google search, which is HIGHLY entertaining. If you guys want to help boost the google rank of the post and make it even MORE entertaining, please link to it or trackback to it on your own blogs.

That’s right, Floyd Mayweather will be on Raw tonight. To say that the Mayweather/Show storyline is 100 times better than last year’s McMahon/Trump storyline would be an understatement.

Also, tonight we have Vince v. Hornswoggle in a cage match and the first Money in the Bank qualifying match. The Road to Wrestlemania has definately begun.

Wrestlemania 24 Predictions

Written by Lex on Monday, February 18th, 2008 in Uncategorized.

As is the tradition around here, it’s time to start talking about Wrestlemania 24. After No Way Out last night, we know the two main events. At least, we may know the two main events. As several people pointed out on the PPV discussion, don’t count out John Cena getting into the main event just yet. Tonight’s Raw will probably answer that question.

Regardless, here’s the Wrestlemania 24 lineup so far:

  • WWE Championship: Triple H v. Randy Orton(c)
  • World Heavyweight Championship: Undertaker v. Edge(c)

Also, these matches are rumored to take place:

  • Shawn Michaels v. Ric Flair
  • Big Show & Partner (Oscar De La Hoya?) v. Rey Mysterio(?) and Floyd Mayweather
  • Money in the Bank Ladder Match

There you go. That’s what we know right now. So let’s get to it. Will John Cena worm his way into the title match? Who will be in the money in the bank match? Will Vince take on Finlay?

Ladies and Gentleman…start your predictions. And I want to see not just probable matchups, but winners and losers!
