Editor’s Note: You know the drill. No posting over this until tomorrow. ALSO, before you read this post, check THIS out:

It’s time for the WWE’s second-biggest pay-per-view of the year, Summerslam. In celebration of the big event, I’ll provide live (Dos Equis-fueled) coverage tonight in the comments section of the post. Here’s the card:

  • Hell in a Cell:The Undertaker d. Edge with the Tombstone in an epic match.
  • Batista d. John Cena with the Batista Bomb in a great match.
  • WWE Championship: Triple H (retains) d. The Great Khali with a pedigree.
  • World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk (retains) d. JBL with GTS
  • ECW Championship: Matt Hardy d. Mark Henry (retains title) via DQ. Hardy hit the twist of fate in the first 30 seconds of the match, but Atlas broke it up, causing the DQ. Atlas attacked Matt Hardy, but Jeff Hardy came out for the save and helped Matt suplex Henry on the floor.
  • HBK’s retirement announcement is interrupted by Chris Jericho, who accidentally punches HBK’s wife in the face as they are leaving. HBK’s wife had a swollen lip after the punch, which looked pretty darn real.
  • Winner Take All Tag Team Match: Santino Marella (New Intercontinental Champion) and Beth Pheonix (New Women’s Champion) d. Kofi Kingston and Mickie James
  • MVP d. Jeff Hardy with the Drive By Kick

Feel free to leave your predictions for Summerslam here.

In addition, here’s some questions for discussion:

  • Will John Cena and Batista have a good match?
  • Will Edge do something spectacular in Hell in a Cell?
  • Which non-Hell in a Cell match steals the show?
  • Will this PPV suck or rule?

Enjoy, and be here at 8e/7c for my live coverage.

The PWBite Rant Episode 25: Live & Mother Fuckin Uncut

Written by sideshowraheem on Thursday, August 14th, 2008 in Indy Wrestling, Opinion, PWB, Podcasts, TNA, WWE, Wrestling Industry.

Episode 25 of the PWBite Rant is up. This is the longest episode ever mainly because I didn’t really edit out much due to time constraints. In our first Live broadcast Jade, El Nagual, Arron and I discuss the latest headlines which include Randy Orton’s re-injury, WWE’s latest round of releases, Mick Foley’s possible jump to TNA, and the lawsuit that Raven filed that could change the way TNA and WWE do business. I also give a review of TNA Hard Justice my first TNA live event and we make our picks for this Sunday’s Summer Slam PPV.

P.S.
Okay, so at the beginning of the podcast I go over all of this but I’ll do it again. First off I know the audio sucks even though I’ve done 25 of these things it’s still is a work in progress. Second, we will be continuing the live Stikam broadcasts every Wednesday night at 8pm EST be there or be square. And third if you like this weeks special opening theme you can download the entire Isaac Hayes tribute album by Cookin Soul here for Free!!! and be sure to check out there official Myspace Page and while your at it don’t forget to follow me on Twitter.

WWE Summerslam Main Event Confirmed

Written by scotlandsmvp on Sunday, July 27th, 2008 in Uncategorized.

WWE Commentator Jim “JR” Ross confirmed in his latest Blog that Summerslam’s Main Event will be the Hell In A Cell Match between Edge and The Undertaker which was announced on Smackdown.

Here is what JR had to say on it.

Speaking of SummerSlam, no matter what else is booked on the PPV next month, the main event will be the Hell in a Cell match make no mistake about it. The franchise of HIAC is arguably as marketable as any title in the WWE and the return of the Undertaker from “exile” is big….really big Jerry.

Well, this may not be surprising seeing as Hell In A Cell has been the main event of a show since Brock Lesnar defended the WWE Championship back at No Mercy 2002 if it has only been One on One. The exception to this came at Unforgiven 2006 when D-Generation X faced The McMahons and The Big Show in a Hell In A Cell match.

SMVP’s View on the Match: If I was going to order this PPV, which I am not, The Hell In A Cell would be the only thing worth watching. Khali/HHH isn’t going to be a good match at all because Khali can’t wrestle for S*** and Triple H will carry the match. Henry/Hardy would be another one to watch because of the possibility that Hardy wins the ECW Title. Still I am not ordering this PPV for ONE MATCH.

The Great Khali? Seriously?

Written by Lex on Saturday, July 26th, 2008 in Uncategorized.

On my initial reading of the Smackdown spoilers this week, I thought perhaps someone had sent a fake report to all of the wrestling sites on the net. There’s no way the WWE would give the Great Khali a title shot at Summerslam, I thought to myself.

Unfortunately, the spoilers weren’t fake, and The Great Khali won Smackdown’s number one contender Battle Royal. Now we’re stuck with The Great Khali in one of the top matches at the WWE’s second-biggest PPV of the year. What are the bookers smoking?

I understand that Smackdown’s marquee match at Summerslam will be Edge v. Undertaker in Hell in a Cell. That’s a great thing and a huge positive that came out of last night’s show. But it’s not enough to squash the disappointment of Triple H wrestling the Great Khali. There should be no suspense when it comes to that match–no way Trips is laying down the belt to that guy.

So that begs a simple question: why did the powers that be book this program? Are they just trying to put a warm body in there until they figure out what to do with Triple H? Did they want to feed Triple H a lame opponent to extend his title reign? Does Triple H want to look like a giant killer on a big PPV stage? I certainly don’t know the answer, and I’m not even going to try to wrap my head around the thought process here, because it’s totally mind-boggling. It’s THE GREAT KHALI. HE’S AN INSANELY TERRIBLE.

I do know one thing, though: we’re all going to be subjected to sitting through a crappy Great Khali match at Summerslam. Let’s just hope they get it out of the way early in the show, because Summerslam has always been right up there with Wrestlemania for me, so I don’t want it ruined by the “Punjabi Nightmare.”
